Fun Things To Do When You're Single For Valentine's Day
Just because you’re single for Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some fun things to do.
It’s a great opportunity to focus on yourself and get the self-love vibes flowing for a whole day.
Whether it’s treating yourself to a nice meal, spending time with friends, treating yourself to a shopping day, watching your favourite films or TV shows or even heading to a spa.
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be boring or lonely because you don’t have a partner to share it with.
Get ready for February 14th and gain inspiration from our guide to enjoy your own company and embrace the single life with these 10 things to do!
1. Take Yourself Out For Food
For many people, the thought of going out for food by themselves feels weird.
We’d be lying if we said it’s not something that makes us feel a little uneasy but, it shouldn’t!
You don’t have to have a significant other or even a friend to go out with to go out for a nice meal this valentines day.
There’s got to be some food places in your uni city or town which you haven’t tried yet, so give them a go and step out of your comfort zone.
Remind yourself that food can still be enjoyed regardless of your love life!
By going on dates with yourself you’ll get to know you and the things you like or don’t like.
Plus, you don’t have to worry about having to decide where to go due to other people’s preference, the decision is up to you.
You could even cook something special for yourself if you don’t feel like heading out to eat in a restaurant this v day.
There are plenty of online recipes for you to discover, or you could try making your own dishes from home.
2. Go Pottery Painting
If you’re single this valentines day, another fun thing to do is take yourself pottery painting.
You don’t have to be particularly artsy to do pottery painting so don’t worry, search if there is a pottery studio nearby and book in for some quiet time.
There will most likely be a huge choice of pottery items to pick between for your painting session.
Whether it’s painting your own cute mug to make your course mates jealous or a trinket tray to put your jewellery, there are so many possibilities for you to release your creativity.
If you don’t feel like heading to a pottery centre, you could even order your own paint your own ceramics kit from Hobbycraft to do at home in your student flat – the fun can come to you!
3. Have A Baking Session
We don’t know about you, but the key to our heart is through baked goodies!
This Valentine’s Day, spend time by yourself and have a nice baking session whether it’s cooking up some chocolate cakes, brownies, fudge, cookies, you name it.
There’s definitely something out there that you’ve been wanting to try out, use this day to channel your inner British Bake Off and try a new recipe.
Spending time in the kitchen also means you’ll spend less time scrolling through social media and comparing yourself to other people’s relationships, so keep yourself busy and have some fun.
This way you can devour the treats you make later on when you’re watching telly – wooo.
4. Buy Yourself Flowers
We’re taking inspiration from Miley Cyrus’ new song here, but you should definitely buy yourself some flowers this Valentine’s Day – talk about self care!
You don’t need someone else to buy you flowers, you can go out and buy a nice bouquet regardless of your relationship status.
This way you can treat yourself to something nice and jazz up your living space.
If you’re not the flowers type and prefer something more long lasting, you could buy a new plant for your study desk.
5. Watch Your Favourite Films Or TV Shows
If you’re someone who spends a lot of their time scrolling through TikTok, ditch this to binge watch some of your favourite films or TV shows this Valentine’s Day, or try out something new.
Take the time to unplug from social media by putting your phone on do not disturb, getting cosy with your fave pyjamas and fluffy socks and putting the telly on.
Better yet, you could go for a cinema date to watch some new released films this valentines and spoil yourself with a bucket of popcorn – it’s not a big deal, don’t worry.
Sometimes the simplest things in life can be the funnest, and the cheapest!
6. Throw A Get Together
We doubt you’re going to be the only single one out of all of your friends or family members, so why not throw a get-together for Valentine’s Day?
You can get all the singletons round, channel your inner Beyoncé by singing single ladies on the karaoke, order a fancy takeout, play some games and have a movie night.
To switch things up, you could even make some cocktail recipes or bring your own dishes to celebrate single life together!
If quality time with family or friends doesn’t sound like a well spent valentines day, we don’t know what will.
7. Schedule A Spa Day
If you’re single on Valentine’s Day head to a spa to relax, unwind and enjoy being in your own company.
You can book in for a wide range of different treatments, chill by the pool or hot tub, or even take some time to destress in the sauna.
Going to a spa will work wonders for both your physical and mental health, especially if you’re feeling a bit lonely.
Don’t worry if you can’t head to a spa, why not have an at home pampering session instead?
It wouldn’t be the worst thing and you’d save some money.
Light candles, get a nice bubble bath, put on a face mask, have a rest and listen to some calming music.
8. Take Yourself On A Shopping Spree
We know it’s just been Christmas but Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to treat yourself to something new.
Trust us, it’s totally normal to be single and buy yourself a present or two, you don’t need a significant other to receive a gift!
Take yourself for a shopping spree in your local area, or shop online for some nice bits from your favourite brands.
After all, you know yourself better than anyone, so of course you’re going to get something fab for yourself by celebrating this way.
9. Meet New People
This Valentine’s Day, spend time connecting with new people or strengthening your current friendships or relationships.
You could do this by joining clubs or groups based on your interests, or attending events that are taking place in your student accommodation or on campus.
This way you’ll meet other like-minded people who you can do fun things with!
If there aren’t any events which look appealing to you, why not set up your own Valentine’s Day event to celebrate?
You never know, you might just find a romantic partner to spend next Valentine’s with.
10. Explore A New Place
Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to take a day trip or weekend getaway in a new place.
Chances are, your uni city or town will be close by to other major cities or towns to visit, so why not take the time this holiday to explore and be a tourist?
You can visit museums and galleries, try some new food, go for a walk to see the sights, you name it.
You don’t need to worry about waiting for someone else, or plan things for other people’s preference or bank accounts, you can take a trip for yourself and enjoy things that you want to do.
If you’ve got friends or family in other cities, you could even use this holiday as an excuse to go and visit them – single people unite!
As you’ve discovered, even single people can have fun during this holiday with these 10 things to do.
